Crisis Intervention Training
This training is currently being offered as an on-line, independent self-study course called "Crisis Intervention Basics."
This course provides participants with the basics of crisis management, including familiarity with the dynamics of crisis and the step-by-step process of managing it.
The course is designed for anyone desiring to improve his or her skill in suicide prevention, and can be used to prepare for the Crisis Worker Certification Exam offered through the Canadian Association for Suicide Prevention. Upon completion of the Crisis Intervention Basics on-line course, you will be:
- Sensitive to the dynamics of the crisis experience and suicidal thought
- Familiar with a step-by-step process for managing crisis
As well, you will be able to:
- Assess a person's risk for suicide and respond with an appropriate intervention plan
- Assess and manage issues related to the limits in crisis work
- Evaluate your potential for burnout
- Develop methods for effective collaboration in crisis intervention

Cost: $63 (includes GST) - gives you password access to the course site for one month
Technical Requirements: You will need the use of a computer with internet access, as well as Adobe Reader (which is available as a free download).
